Chorlton Eats at Chorlton Good Neighbours

We also wanted to find out what the older community in Chorlton think about healthy eating. So our school team came with us to Chorlton Good Neighbours to film and consult there.

The Chorlton High Students filmed the consultation and interviewed the people there.

Chorlton Eats at Barlow Moor Community Centre

The students came with us to visit a parent toddler group at Barlow Moor Community Centre. They filmed our survey about barriers to healthy eating and asked their questions. The parents we talked to love good food and gave a good insight into things to consider when you want your kids to eat healthily.

Chorlton High students filmed our activities and interviewed the parents.

Chorlton Eats at Chorlton High

Then we went to Chorlton High, where three students and their teacher agreed to become consultants and filmmakers on our project. They did some role play, imagining what it would be like to be a mother cooking with kids, asked their teacher and asked each other. They wanted to know
· What does eating healthily actually mean to you
· What stops you from eating healthily
· What would make it easier for you to eat more healthily

The students filmed each other as they asked the questions. Filming at SchoolClick on the screen below to see the film:

Chorlton Eats outside Hardy Lane Co-op

The Chorlton Fairtrade and Food group wanted to find out what stopped people from eating healthy food. So during March 2007, we went out and asked the Chorlton community.

Talking about good food
Firstly we joined the annual Fairtrade stall outside Hardy Lane Co-op on Barlow Moor Road and asked people to identify barriers to healthy eating and suggest solutions. We made a little film to share our activities… (click on picture or link below)

Chorlton speaks to us

The Chorlton Fairtrade and Food group wanted to find out what stopped people from eating healthy food. So during March 2007, we went out and asked the Chorlton community.

We learned that everyone would like to eat good healthy food and many do.

We also learned that some people think they do not have time to cook, shop or grow good healthy food. It is too much effort when they are busy, tired and stressed.

Others are not sure how to cook or grow food.

Still more are reliant on other people to shop and cook for them and must eat what they are given (often unhealthy and not even tasty!).

We also asked people to suggest how they could eat more healthily and many of those ideas are here on this website.

Come with us on our journey of discovery.
